Blackpool Artist-In-Residence 2009
Blackpool Council, Arts Council England and Heritage Lottery Fund

This project was part of the Blackpool Arts Regeneration Programme. I worked for six months within the four seafront wards of Claremont, Talbot, Bloomfield and Waterloo facilitating workshops, collecting symbolic narrative objects and researching local history. The outcome was two-fold. Firstly, a collection of the community’s creative work was produced using plastic body forms as a creative base to represent Blackpool considering one’s identity within a natural/urban/social environment.

In response to work within the community, a three-dimensional interactive piece was created based on the historical layers of Blackpool that is accompanied by an extensive educational package for school and community group leaders. The work has become part of the Grundy Art Gallery’s object loan collection and is titled Blackpool, Inside Out.
