Sikh Fortress Turban Exhibition

Museum of Lancashire Nov 2014 Feb 2015

As part of the Sikh Fortress Turban Exhibition (Spotlight loan from the British Museum) I worked with the North West Sikh Community in both Preston and Manchester exploring place, identity and the concept of ‘house’. I responded to this work creating my own learning resource artwork using a dollhouse as a base. The house is a two up two down style honouring the first Gurdwara in Preston.

The Gurdwara found its forever home at the Guru Nanak Cultural Recreation Centre and Sikh Gurdwara in Preston and is being used as an educational resource.

I was incredibly impressed with Kate’s approach, creativity, enthusiasm and commitment to her work, always going the extra mile to ensure that she could achieve the best results possible for the community participants and end users of her educational artwork.
