Let’s Talk Art and Music

72cm x 40cm x 12cm

This award winning artwork was created for and entered in the King Street Arts Rhythm: Art in Conversation With Music Exhibition (11th– 19th October 2022) whereby it won a Special Commendation Prize. The piece incorporates three-dimensional symbolic objects often repeated, to depict the rhythm of music and the bling of performance in a visual art form.

Vintage organ stops and keys represent music itself and my own past experience taking organ and piano lessons as a child. The brush represents the visual arts. The two are assembled together as one – the chains link all creativity. My experience as a multi-disciplinary artist is that one creative form quite often leads into another and is in conversation with each other. This artwork also comes with an original poem collaged onto the back.

This artwork is for sale and needs a forever home.

We are very pleased to be awarding a prize to Kate for her entries to King Street Arts exhibition Rhythm: Art in Conversation with Music. Her work always demonstrates meticulous attention to detail and is very recognisably her own. Each piece is solid in its construction and crafting and the assembly of its elements and succeeds in working simultaneously both visually and metaphorically. No mean feat. Many questions are raised and narratives to be found in the looking. They succeed in squaring a paradox; being both very material with found and manipulated objects which bring a subtle blend of stories and ideas.
