Moorside Primary Facing The Past

The Facing The Past project aims to explore Lancaster and its role in the transatlantic slave trade. The project is a collaboration between Black History Lancaster, Judges’ Lodgings Museum, Lancaster Priory, More Music and other partners and local schools. It has been funded by Arts Council England.

As part of this project I delivered creative collage sessions with Moorside Primary’s Year 4 pupils focusing on giving identities to an enslaved person. The children contributed to a collective artwork and some also wrote stories.

Kate delivered a thought provoking, well-planned and engaging workshop with our Year 4 children. Our focus was returning identities to enslaved Africans through a collage media. Kate is clearly knowledgeable and passionate about the subject which enabled the children to respond thoughtfully to this difficult subject.
